Vaujany
Vaujany is a pretty, rustic village with ski slopes called the Vaujany/Oz area. it has recently been growing with new buildings and new investment in the infrastructure, it has managed to retain its rural atmosphere however somehow. There is a huge cable car that carries 160 people into the Alpe D'Huez lift system. They kindly installed a covered escalator to take you up to the higher reaches of the village. There is a wide variety of self catering apartments to choose from covering a wide price range. You will find a cafe/bar, restaurants and food shops to stock up the fridge. Lots of people stay around the Galerie Marchande - a small car free area with a supermarket, bars and restaurants. |

Vaujany Restaurants Choice is fairly limited but not non-existent, here is a few of Vaujany's notable restaurants:
La Remise Pizzeria - A friendly welcome with authentic wood-fired pizzas. Le Mas des Neiges - Serving traditional montagnarde dishes Rissiou Hotel - Slightly pricer than the other options but provides a high standard of cuisine. |
|
| Nightlife.. |
|
 |
|
|
| Vaujany does not have the wild nightlife attached to many other french resorts, but The Swallow Bar has been mentioned for it's mellow drinking atmosphere, and there is Chez Peter's, a rum bar with internet access. |

| If skiing is not entirely you're thing there should be enough to occupy you here. The most impressive thing to do would be to take a scenic plane ride from Alpe d'Huez to see the mountains in their full glory (whilst avoiding a chairlift). Alternatively try a guided snow walk on 'raquettes' or if you are there more at spring time tramp through the flower filled meadows on one of the summer walking tracks, which are very extensive. |

If it's chalets that you fancy then why not take a look at the wonderful chalets on offer at www.simplychalets.co.uk? With a fantastic choice of chalets for small and larger groups you can be sure to fulfill all of you're accommodation requirements here.
We also like the private Chalet Jazmin (0044 7715 992153)and we think you might as well. It has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 8/9 and has spectacular views of the surrounding mountain whilst only being 3 minute walk to the village centre. Combine that with the fact that the Daily Telegraph on the 31st March 2007 voted Alpe D' Huez and Vaujany one of the top ten Alpine ski resorts for snow. find out more at www.JazSki.com

Ski Vaujany
Vaujany has it's own great skiing and it is fairly easy to get to the surrounding areas. A 160 person cable car will take you to the area of Alpe D‘Huez for example.
Experts Reach 3,330 m from Vaujany in around 40 minutes by reaching Pic Blanc. From here there are numerous runs that can be attempted, such as the sarenne and chateau nour, the longest black runs in Europe which are scenic as well as challenging. The champagne run, comprising of 'The Tunnel', Les Rousses and La Fare, is a 2,200 m run that has been called one of the greatest on piste vertical descents linked with lifts in the world.
Intermediates The Signal de L'Homme offers open swooping slopes at a great gradient for gentle cruising. The Sarenne black run is also worth a try for adventurous intermediates as it is mainly graded so for it's length and isolation not it's difficulty.
Beginners Plenty of blues and greens around Montfrais immediate to Vaujany. There are two drag lifts and some well connected chair lifts that offer gentle runs with well times mountain restaurants for a break. There is a Nursery Slope at the gondola mid station and in general the resort offers good slopes for beginners. However coming back from Alpe d'Huez is not good for beginners as links back tend to be under graded.
