About The Mountain
St Francois Longchamp Ski
From an altitude of 1400 to 2550 m : forests, with gentle sloping pastures at the bottom and breathtaking steep slopes at the top. The Grand Domaine – 150 km of pistes – is made up of Valmorel (the main resort), Doucy Combelouvière and Saint François Longchamp, and was the first area to link the Tarentaise and Maurienne valleys. Equipped with 49 ski lifts, 202 snow canons and a snowpark with a half-pipe and a boarder-cross. Known as a family resort there are still some tougher runs for those itching for a challenge. The north facing slopes of Col du Mottet and Dol du Gollet have the more reliable snow, and with everyone off on the beginners slopes you can often come across some great unskied powder off piste. In total there is 3600 hectares of ski area
Snowboarders – there is a park under the Creve-Coeur chairlift with a boardercross course, half pipe, rails, quarter and super pipes and they offer a special park only pas for around €15 for the day. For boarding on piste stick to the good intermediate runs and probably the best boarding can be found off piste so grab a guide and head out
