About The Resort..

Verbier Ski

Verbier_SkiVerbier is a sprawling town of wooden chalets set in a beautiful valley with glorious views. It's one of the most famous ski resorts in Europe and is nestled in a well sheltered position in the beautiful Southern Swiss Alpes.

Renowned for its excellent off-piste, Verbier will not fail to disappoint if the snow is right.  Its infamous itineraries and extreme backcountry are renownded for being some of the best in the world.  The glitzy town oozes luxury and there are numerous expensive hotels and restaurants to chose from.  The apres scene is not all high class stuff though, with plenty of opportunities to let your hair down in Verbier's famous bars.

Nightlife..

Verbier Nightlife & Verbier Bars

bar signFarinet has been awarded the title of 'Best Bar in Europe' in the past, and quite rightly so.  Enjoy cheap pitchers of beer in an extraordinary bar where the roof opens and closes, shots are given away throughout the evening, live music is blasted out and everyone gets well and truly into the apres spirit.

Pub Mont Fort is a great place to head if you finish the day at Medran. Get stuck in during the happy hour and relax to the good music and awesome atmosphere.

The Casbah is located under the Farinet Hotel, in the main square. Not the most sophisticated of places, but a cheaper option by a long way than the Farm Club.

The Farm Club is very expensive club but has great service and atmosphere.

1936 - head to the Mayentzet Chairlift and you will find this bar on the slopes below. Great place to stop on the way back home. Sunny deck, good DJ's and a BBQ.

Accommodation

Verbier Accommodation

Verbier Hotels

Where to stay in Verbier.  There is somewhat of a accommodation deficit in Verbier, as a lot of the privately owned chalets are not let out throughout the season. There are lots of classy hotels, and plenty of ski companies operate there.  Care should be taken on where to stay as some accommodation is a fair way from any lifts, although there is a free bus service around the town.

5* Chalet de Adrien 771 6200 www.chalet-adrien.com - this is luxury at a price
3* Poste - 771 6681 - very central (between Medran and the town centre)
3* Farinet 771 6626 www.hotelfarinet.com - great location (on the town square)

The Lodge
Looking for the ultimate luxury? Price no problem? Why not stay at The Lodge?  it's part of Sir Richard Branson's wonderful portfolio of retreats that include Necker Island in BVI. Located near the Medran lift station this lodge has been turned into a winter wonderhouse which includes a steam-room, gym, and ice rink. Prices start from £35K per week and more details can be found at www.virgin.com/limitededition

About The Mountain

Ski Verbier

Welcome to a vast ski are of over 400km of runs including links to Thyon, Nendaz and Veysonnaz. The Mont Fort glacier is very snow sure and imposes itself dramatically. Queues can be a problem though, especially during peak season.  Occasionally blue sky powder days which coincide with a public holiday result in horrendous queues to get up the mountain. Verbier is part of the 4 Valleys, but don't assume that these four valleys are connected in the same way that the 3 Valleys in France are.  Getting around the valleys is by no means easy, and unless you are happy to ski the difficult itineraries, then taking lifts down the mountain is necessary to leave the Verbier 'Valley.'

skiers and snowboardersSnowboarders - There's loads of domain to explore for the freeriders with trees, wide pistes and, at times, some excellent powder. The 1936 Neypark at La Chaux is where you should heard to; there is a good selection of rails including a wall ride, a cross Rail and a Flat up. DJ's and a chill out zone makes the park a favourite hang out for boarders. The Verbier O'Neil Xtreme contest is held here every year sponsored by Swatch.

Advanced skiers & Boarders - Verbier attracts a hard core of skiers who love the off-piste. It has some of the best and most varied off-piste in the world today. The Mont Fort cable car sends you to the glacier and from there you can do the famous 'back side of Mont Fort' - only with a guide though.  If you would rather stick to itineraries then head down the black on Mont Fort and then on towards the Tortin snow bowl. With powder, this run is unbelievable as you navigate a long and well formed mogul field. The itineraries are all worth giving a go, and with good fresh snow they are unbeatable.

Extreme SkierIntermediates - Probably not the mile hungry place you would imagine but there is an excellent variety of runs all around.  The main area above Verbier is good to improve on and the Attelas run down the central valley is fun, if a little busy. Some slopes can get crowded so try and head over to the underused Savoleyres area.  This area is also ideal for those looking to try out their first off-piste.

Beginners Skiers - Verbier is not a Snowbrainer first choice for beginners but there is enough to keep you happy, and there is the potential for confident beginners to be pushed. There are sunny nursery slopes just above the village centre and in the Savolyres are, with tree lined runs down to La Tzoumaz. Investment has been made recently with new magic carpet lifts in the Esserts beginners area.  Alternatively, the blues at La Chaux are gentle and fun but served by an incredibly slow chairlift.

Lift Passes for Verbier
Where can you get lift tickets for Verbier / Mont Fort / La Tzoumaz and the 4 Vallees?
Buy your ski-pass online for 1-21 days and you won't have to queue for your lift tickets when you are in the resort. Go to www.esecure.ch/verbier/

Verbier has been a favourite of group for many years. Awesome skiing and snowboarding every time we go and thanks to Snowbrainer for looking after our ski hire. Great discounts saved up over £250at Xtreme Sports between the 6 of us. Will use you again next year.

We love skiing in Verbier and head over there every year pre Christmas. We’ve been lucky this year with the fantastic pre-Christmas snowfall. The scenery is breathtaking and the off piste skiing and snowboarding is incredible. Cheers Snowbrainer for sorting us out with great ski/snowboard equipment! See ya next year!

We went to Verbier on a girls ski weekend - week what a blast! I don't think I'd been to on a holiday where there were so many guys. Of course we were treated like queens and I'd thoroughly recommend the Farm Club - take some nice clothes! Skiing was great, though we did stop a lot for hot chocolates. Booked online to get the deal for ski hire with snow-brainer and the Xtreme shop were brill. Can't wait to get back to the resort.

Verbier has a cult following and e have just joined the club. Awesome place with plenty of variety of slopes whilst the off-piste is just terrific. Only bugbear was the buses around resort got a little full. Xtreme Sports was as good as you said they would be so We would definately use you guys again for our ski rentals.
