Arosa
Arosa Ski Resort
Arosa is a very quaint resort that gives you the impression of traveling back in time (in a good way). It has grown around the shores of two picture-postcard lakes - a great first impression is given off as you arrive in the resort after a ride in a horse drawn carriage from the railway station. It is a beautiful rail journey from Chur which takes under an hour. A well heeled clientelle enjoy Arosa's relaxed ambiance. There are lots of good restaurants, a casino and winter walking paths so things to do if you are not a skier and being at the end of the valley means no through traffic. The author of Shelock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was an early skier in Arosa when he walked up and skied down to the Seehorf Inn the first hotel in Arosa. Visitors are advised not to try the same route today due to the risks of an avalanche! The resort of Arosa is 1800m above sea level at the end of the valley. People have been flocking to Arosa for over 100 years for both the alpine skiing and the health benefits of being in such a beautiful, clean environment.

| About The Mountain |
|
 |
|
|
Arosa Ski Arosa is a classic bowl resort with 60 km of slopes built out of two main sectors (the Weisshorn and Hornli) which merge with all runs returning to the village at the bottom, a comforting thought for families. There is little problem with queuing and at 1800m it is pretty snow sure. There are some excellent off piste runs that link to Davos in one direction, and Lenzerheide in the other.
Snowboarding ArosaThe world snowboard championships are held here so one would imagine that snowboarders amongst us are welcome. Kinky DJ's belt out music from the Sithutte bar which is located a top of the park. The other main incentive is the massive 130m super half pipe for free stylers to visit Arosa and an obstacle fun park.
Skiing ArosaAdvanced Skiers & Snowboarders - The adventurous should have a guide and ski the offpiste from Arosa to Leizerheide.
Intermediates - OK so it's not great for high mileage but is enjoyable none-the-less. The Weisshorn has the steeper runs but can suffer from poor snow conditions due to the sun. The blue from Bruggerhorn down through Pratschli is a great run to cruise down at the end of the day.
Beginners - The easy slopes up at Tschuggen are good fun with reliable snow.
Cross Country - Arosa although small (16 Miles) has some of the most beautiful and varied runs in the Alps. |

Great resort for families with the Disney influence. Maybe a little small but excellent for a weeks skiing and at 1800m the snow was good
By LJ on 06/07/2009 12:26:14
There was plenty of snow when we went to Arosa early spring time. There is plenty of sunshine here which is good whilst the atmosphere both on and off the piste is great fun. There are some great bars and its even more fun to ski straight in to town to these bars. There were quite a few families holidaying there – we were a group of pals just off on a fun winter holiday. There were some pretty experienced skiers in their group and they didn’t feel that there was enough on offer compared to other resorts.
