Bardonecchia Resort In 1909 the first Italian ski championships were held here and the first ski jump. "smith" was built in the same year. The jump was named after the Norwegian brothers Harold & Trigher Smith who had brokend the world record of their time by jumping 43 & 40 mtrs respectively.
Bardoneccia sits in a sunny valley surrounded by mountains whose peaks reach as high as 3500m and it is on the border between Italy and France. As a historical mountain town Bardonecchia is easily reached by both highway and train from many European cities. Expect immaculate pistes, tree lined slopes, and many other activities besides skiing. |

In terms of things to see there is a Civic Museum of Religious Art, a woodcarving school, and an archaeological park.
There is also the Palazzo delle Feste, a building in Bardonecchia that was in the twentieth century a big amusement salon. It's art nouveau features have been kept during it renovations and the building is now worth visiting for the variety of performances and events that take place within. |

Skiing BardonecchiaBardonecchia slopes are divided into 2 distinct areas, and all together there is around 62 miles of snow covered slopes. The first is made up o Colomion. Les Arnauds and Melzet which lead off from the centre of town. The second area known as Jafferau rises up to 2800 mtrs. 
Snowboarders
Bardonecchia has always been a big supporter of snowboarding and hosted the snowboard-cross during the Winter Olympics.
The snowpark www.bardonecchiasnow.com has olympic half pipe 130 m long, 17.5 m wide and 5.7 m high. A parallel giant slalom and snowboard cross with its jumps. In 2006 it hosted all the Turin Olympic snowboarding events.

We went on holiday the week of March 26th 2009. We had a great holiday and our party of mixed skiers and snowboarders loved both the skiing and snowboarding. Best of all it a lot better value than some of the French resorts we have been to
