Maria Alm ResortMaria Alm is a pretty Austrian village based at one end of the Hochkonig area sometimes known as the High King Mountain. There is a free ski bus operates between any of the mountain bases (Maria Alm, Hintermoos, Hinterthal, Dienten, and Mühlbach) which together provide a good sized ski area roughly the size of Kitzbuhel.

Maria Alm Bars
The Dengl Alm and Bachwirt are both good bars whilst the Almer Tenne has live bands and a disco. For those who like it a little quieter head for the Orgler Keller. You will also find some decent open air bars at the base of the mountains for that apres ski drink or three!

Maria Alm Hotels An excellent variety of 3 star and 4 star hotels. You will need to book youself because not many of the larger tour operators go to Maria Alm. However Elevation Holidays, Neilson, Interhome and Skiing Austria do go to Maria Alm.
Alpenland Sportshotel has its friends although we prefer to stay in Haus Salzsburg in Hinterthal which is run by a British couple Sandra and Carl who is not a bad ski instuctor as well!
Hotel Thalerhof is 100 metres from the lift and has 40 rooms with a pool and a sauna Hotel Simonhof in Hinterthal has 20 rooms and again is 100 metres from the lift

Maria Alm although not really on the British skiers radar is a charming place to go skiing. This makes for less queues that you would normally expect over a New Years ski break. There is loads of runs offering a huge amount of variety and you can if you want upgrade your ski pass to take in places like Kitzbuhel. We didn’t feel the urge and found all we wanted at Maria Alm. Will go back again next year and will also use your excellent ski rental service that saved us loads of money.
