Morillon, France
Description: Morillon village was built up around the 16th century church of St Chrisophe in the beautiful Giffre Valley. The resort is on 35 miles (1 hour) from Geneva airport and a 15-minute drive from the motorway exit & TGV train station of Cluses. It is one of the 5 resorts that is part of the giant Grand Massif (Flaine) ski area with 77 lifts covering 265km of piste. At the same time Morillon manages to retain its individual character as a small resort much loved by generations of French families. It holds the official ‘Les p’tits Montagnards’ label for its superb children facilities. We warmly recommend the ‘Village des Enfants’, which cares for skiing and non-skiing children aged between 6 months and 10 years. Weekly torchlight descents, concerts, wine and food tasting, and a variety of activities for children are all part of an extensive winter programme of entertainment. Value-for-money restaurants make eating out a pleasure while a ‘traiteur’ produces first class regional food to take away. Morillon 1100 (Les Esserts), is the the purpose built sport resort 5.5km above Morillon village and is very much a pedestrian family friendly resort with 3000 beds in the middle of the forest. It offers a small selection of restaurants and bars, a few shops and mini-supermarket. The ’Village des Enfants’ children facility is based at Les Esserts.

Nauders, Austria
Description: Nauders sits on the border of Italy and is not far from Switzerland as well. In fact it's easy enough to reach the small Italian ski resorts of Haider Alm and Schoneben. This is a good resort for families looking for a bit of peace and quiet. There are a few bars to enjoy some apres ski and you'll find that most people eat in their hotels. There's a nice mix of activities available for non skiers.

Nendaz, Switzerland
Description: Nendaz is part of the 4 valleys although it is not as easy to ski the vast area as one would like. To get to Verbier takes about an hour. Benefits include low prices with great views of the Rhone Valley. Modern resort build in a traditional chalet style. It's a large resort but little known by us.

Description: Neustift is a pretty Tirolean village with a little local area of slopes called Elfer. Hotels and food are good and there is quite a lot to do in the village including bowling, swimming and saunas.

Niederau, Austria
Description: It is the main resort in the Wildschonau Valley. A little spread out it has a number of shops and restaurants around the gondola. Most of hotels are within 5 minutes of the lift and Niedarau is a good place for beginners & early intermediates. Please also refer to nearby resorts Auffach and Oberau.

Notre Dame de Bellecombe, France
Description: It is located in the middle of the Val D'Arly above Flumet between Mont Blanc, Beaufortain and Aravis and is a traditional Savoyard village . Notre Dame is also the hightest point in the Espace Diamant, whist being a beautiful place to stay and only 13km from Megeve. There is also a free bus to/from Crest Voland.

Obergurgl, Austria
Description: Obergurgl is to be found at the end of the road past Solden. The good point is that it is highest village in Austria for skiing so the snow should be good. The Germas love it and some Brits return year after year. Another good point is that because it is at the end of the Oetz valley near the Italian border it doesn't get a weekend crowd, hence there are very little queues. A favourite resort for families it opens very early in the season

Description: Very different to many in Austria because it is a purpose built resort. It is build in high rise chalet style very much like a French resort and is ski in, ski out. Guaranteed snow adds to the attraction but beware, there are a lot of flat spots at the bottom of the runs.

Description: Oetz is a small but attractive area to ski for beginners and early intermediates. An 8 person gondola takes you to the top in 8 minutes from the base where you will find a decent sized carpark. It is located on the road to Solden and Obergurgl and is considered a family resort.

Description: Pal is a picturesque quiet mountain village just over from its more illustrious neighbour Arinsal. By road the journey is about 5km. Do have a look at Arinsal to learn more about the resort. Ample car parking makes it a popular choice for locals at weekends but lift lines are not much of a problem.

Pas de la Casa, Andorra
Description: A duty free mecca on the border with France. A little dreary to look at but lots of accommodation near the lifts helps. Watch the cars as you cross the road! Maybe not as convenient as Soldeu for the skiing but the young at heart amongst will love the party atmosphere. It is the biggest and the most well know resort in Andorra. Great for shopping so take and empty bag to fill up with those cheap goodies.

Pila, Italy
Description: Pila is situated in the Aosta valley. There are some good slopes for skiing on which are usually pretty quiet due to the fact that most people who come here are Italians. So you could say its a good secret and you'll enjoy the uncrowded slopes. There is a gondola that links the town below but in Pila itself you will find a handful of restaurants.
