Selva Gardena Wolkenstein, Italy


Description: Selva is a village at the heart of the Dolomites, and the best known resort in the Val Gardena -famous for world cup ski races. Some people know this area as the South Tyrol. The resort has a real mix of Italian and Austrian traditions and there are activities for non-skiers too.


Combloux, France


Description: Combloux is only 4 km from glitzy Megeve but is a lot cheaper whilst also looking over the stunning Mont Blanc. Chamonix is a further 30km away. Parking is free and there are 2 large car parks at the base of the station


Le Praz - Couchevel 1300, France


Description: We love the old feel of Le Praz. Wander around the streets, try out the excellent restaurants and enjoy some lovely tree skiing back into the village.


Courchevel 1650, France


Description: Rather less famous than its sister at 1850m it is somewhat less cosmopolitan too. Not a bad thing either. It is a friendly place and give you great access not only to Courcheval but the Trois Vallee or 3 Valleys as well. The main road to 1850 cuts through but doesn't spol the attractive village centre.


Courchevel 1300, France


Description: We love the old feel of Courchevel 1300 or as it's more commonly known - Le Praz. Wander around the streets, try out the excellent restaurants and enjoy some lovely tree skiing back into the village.


Neustift, Austria


Description: Neustift is a pretty Tirolean village with a little local area of slopes called Elfer. Hotels and food are good and there is quite a lot to do in the village including bowling, swimming and saunas.


Gerlos, Austria


Description: Gerlos is part of the Zillertal region and is an authentic alpine resort. There are around 160km of slopes in the region between 1300m and 2505m with direct access from Gerlos


Brig, Switzerland


Description: Graceful old town with magnificient railway station. It’s the fulcrom for a dizzying series of major roads and rail routes, where people stop over on the way to Zermatt


La Chapelle d'Abondance, France


Description: Just 5km down the valley from Chatel you will find this charming rustic farming community a wonderfully quaint place.


Veysonnaz, Switzerland


Description: Veysonnaz is a small quaint resort reached via a 3km winding road from Sion. It is part of the 412km 4 Valleys circuit. It can get very sunny in the afternoon. Whilst being an attractive old village with a lovely church. There are a number of bars, restaurants, disco plus a decent sports centre


Niederau, Austria


Description: It is the main resort in the Wildschonau Valley. A little spread out it has a number of shops and restaurants around the gondola. Most of hotels are within 5 minutes of the lift and Niedarau is a good place for beginners & early intermediates. Please also refer to nearby resorts Auffach and Oberau.


Bad Hofgastein, Austria


Description: Bad Hofgastein is the market town and spa village and the centre of activity in the Gastein Valley in Austria. The centre of the village is pedestrianised - it's a pretty town with lovely views of the surrounding mountains.


Font Romeu, France


Description: A small ski resort in the Pyrenees it is located 85km from Perpignon and one hour from Barcelona. Great resort for families. The slopes are 4km from the village via a regular bus service.


Zell am Ziller, Austria


Description: Zell and Ziller is a former gold mining centre and is considered the main town of the Zillertal valley. It is also the proud home of the oldest private brewery Zillertal Bier. Aschau is 4km away and Kaltenbach is only 8km away


Westendorf, Austria


Description: Part of the Kitzbuheler Alpenskipass, Westendorf was voted the most beautiful village in Europe in 1998. It is a cosy cosmopolitan alpine village which sell itself as a good quality family resort.


Mieders, Austria


Description: Mieders is a pretty Austrian village located at the beginning of the Stubai Valley.


Zermatt, Switzerland


Description: Zermatt is a stunning resort with a car free centre. The 38 peaks surrounding the town including the 4478m Matterhorn make for an impressive site. Most restaurants and hotels are owned by a few families and Zermatt is both a winter and summer destination of choice. ON the down side the walking around can be a pain in the neck and that's without fallin and avoiding the electric taxis! Take care when choosing where to stay in theis sprawling town the best location for us a Snowbrianer is near the Gornegrat and Sunnegga railways because you are close to two lifts.


Moena, Italy


Description: Moena is a great little resort situated in the Trevalli ski area of the Val di Fassa. Great for families this quiet resort is a good starting point to the Dolomites Ski Area.


Prapoutel, France


Description: Within the French Alps lies the village Prapoutel, it's part of the Les 7 Laux which includes nearby villages Le Pleynet and Pipay. Prapoutel was a ski resort built in the 1960's by a local politician. It was quite inventive for it's time as it included conservational elements and a high speed lift from the accommodation area. The original plans were drawn up by the designer of Courchevel. The resort is very popular with the thousands of students from nearby Grenoble. It has some fantastic off piste which can be skied out very quickly. As one of the key Isere resorts there has been a lot of investment in new lifts.

Description: Castelrotto is the main town on the plateau Schlern. There is a beautiful town centre with a fantastic church whose tower dominates the sky line. This a really beautiful and sunny resort. It is located to the west of the Sella Ronda cicuit.

Kaltenbach, Austria


Description: Why Kaltenbach? Well a good reason would be that it gives you direct access via an 8 passenger gondola to Hochzillertal which has 155km of pistes to play with. Known as the Zillertal ski area it comes highly recommended. Great for weekend with 4 airports all in within 2 hours transfer time. If you buy the right pass you can also ski Fugen, Hippach, Mayrhofen (17km away) and Zell am Ziller


Stumm, Austria


Description: Stumm is a beautiful village and has one ofht emost attractive village squares in the Tirol often used for film shootings. It is located int eh middle of the woirld renowned Zillertal Valley, and is found opposite Kaltenbach. (check out the Kaltenbach resort page for more info)


Wald, Austria


Description: Wald is a small cosy village at 900m and is in the middle of the skiing area. Probably a better place to stay for the less active amongst us. It is the sister village of Wald-Konigsleiten, where most snowboarders/skiers like to stay for the ski-in ski-out aspect.


Oberau, Austria


Description: Oberau is situated between Niederau and Auffach and is part of the Wildschonau Valley. It is the cultural and administrative centre of the valley. An unspoilt village with a traditional feel in a beautiful valley. Please refer to both Niederau and Affach for more information.


Crevacol, Italy


Description: Crevacol is a very quiet small Italian resort within the Aosta Valley. It has some stunning scenery as it stretches up to the San Bernadino Pass. When the snow conditions permit there is some amazing off piste.
